NEW YORK, March ll.-(AP)—
The Japanese people have been told that Rabaul cannot be defended from the air because "there are not enough" Japanese places on the island.
A Japanese Army . press - correspondent, in a report broadcast over the Japanese domestic radio re corded by U.S. Government monitors, described life on Rabaul «s "ghastly and terrible", under an almost never-ending avalanche of American bombs. The situation has reached the point, according to the correspondent, where the Japanese on Rabaul no longer "care what happens" to them.

The Japanese people have been told that Rabaul cannot be defended from the air because "there are not enough" Japanese places on the island.
A Japanese Army . press - correspondent, in a report broadcast over the Japanese domestic radio re corded by U.S. Government monitors, described life on Rabaul «s "ghastly and terrible", under an almost never-ending avalanche of American bombs. The situation has reached the point, according to the correspondent, where the Japanese on Rabaul no longer "care what happens" to them.
"Rabaul is exposed to the constant rain of bombs by the U.S. Airf'orce. day and night, day after day," the correspondent was is saying. "We never know KG may hear the explosion of Bombs. Because there are not enough Japanese planes, we must let the enemy planes move freely.'
Describing operations in the Marhalls, a broadcast said planes followed up a Tuesday attack on Jaluit island with raids on both Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
This b r o a d c a s t claimed that ground batteries shot down two B-24 bombers out of a formation of 10 which bombed the island on Wednesday.
Another "small-type bomber" was shot down on Thursday, when 31 planes blasted island positions, Domei said.
A Japanese Imperial Headquarters communique acknowledged that "powerful enemy unit" had
landcd on Los Negros Island in the Admiralties and said that Japanese forces on New Guinea were "now undergoing regrouping."
Another Domei broadcast reported by OWI said a dozen United States  China-based aircraft attacked Hong Cong Friday morning, causing some damage to residential quarters and hospital.
