THE United States, Great Britain and Russia were offi-
clally disclosed today to have reached a "full understanding"
on "the urgent task of creating a second front in
Europe in 1942."
A white house announcement, issued simultaneously with
a British statement in London, said Pres. Roosevelt and
Soviet Foreign Commissar V. M. Molotov had reached .agreement
regarding the problem of launching a mighty Allied
offensive against Germany.
It did not state specifically, however, when or if the three
powers had decided to open a second front—merely emphasizing
the "urgent task" of creating a new front.
Simultaneously, the British announced the signing of a
20 year mutual assistance treaty with Russia even as the
Axis armies pressed a violent assault against the Soviet Black
sea naval base of Sevastopol, in the Crimea, and the German
high command reported new gains in the battle of
North Africa.

Jew Marked Man Where
Nazis Hold Sway Due to
Hitler's Hatred: Lochner
Stands Beyond Pale of
Any Law in Reich,
Says Writer
[The Status of the jew.'under
Nazism is described by Louis P.
Lochner, chief of the former
Associated Press and Wide World
bureau in Berlin, in this ninth of
a daily series for The Capital
Times since his return from Internment
in Germany. — EDITOR'S
NOTE.]
By LOU1S F. LOCHNER
NEW YORK— (Wide World) —Because
of Adolf' Hitler's blind,
hatred, the Jew is a marked man
wherever Nazism holds sway.
The yellow six. Pointed 'stars with
the German word "Jude" or its'. Czech
or Dutch or other foreign language
equivalent points him out as a person
who must be avoided.
In. Nazi. Germany the treatment of
the Jew has alternated between broken
promises and sadistic cruelty. That the
Jew would be removed from public
office and possibly also dislodged from
cultural positions of influence, once
the Nazis came into power, was apparent
long before -Adolf Hitler took
over on .Jan. 30, 1933
