WASHINGTON, Nov. 17.—
(AP) — An upward revision of
Japanese navy losses in the
sea battle of Guadalcanal was
predicted confidently Tuesday
by naval authorities who emphasized
that the announced
total of 23 ships sunk and
seven damaged was based on
Incomplete reports from the
South Pacific war zone.

Wednesday, Nov. 18—(U.P)—Seventeen
Japanese planes were destroyed
by Allied raiders In a
night attack on Lae, Japanese
New Guinea base, and Buin,
Japanese fleet anchorage on
Bougainville Island In ihe northern
Solomons, a communique said
today.
Lae Is the Japanese base north
of Buna, where Allied forces,
under the personal direction of
General Douglas MacArthur, are
converging Lao Is about 150
miles up the coast from Buna,
and was slated next on the list
after the expected capture of
Buna.
