Threats of a "revolt" by British-Ruled India's 77,000,-
000 Moslems further complicated the Allied effort in the
Far Pacific war theater today as Japanese troops surged
on westward beyond fallen Rangoon toward the Irawaddy
oil fields and the fabulous riches of India.
Rangoon itself, the Burmese capital,
was a city of fire-blackened
ruins.


Eden Charges Jap Atrocities At Hongkong
London, March 10 (AP)—Foreign
Secretary Anthony Eden charged in
the House of Commons today that
the Japanese army in Hongkong
had been guilty of wholesale atrocities
in the occupied crown colony
and declared that the Japanese
emperor and government and "The
whole Japanese people" were to
blame.
