Americans Bolster Aussies Despite Java Sea Losses
Express Pacific War Summary
Undaunted by the loss of the cruiser Houston and the destroyer Pope, with
10 other Allied Nations warships, in the Battle for Java 15 days ago, the United
States is posting thousands of soldiers into Australia to bolster the defense of
the island continent against a Japanese' invasion.
And with this news came other dispatches Saturday telling of severe blows
being struck by big four-motored bombers against Jap airdromes in the opening
phase of the Battle of Australia.----
