"Rabaul is exposed to the
constant rain of bombs by the U.S. Airf'orce. day and night, day after

raids on both Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
This b r o a d c a s t claimed
that ground batteries shot down two B-24 bombers out of a formation of 10 which

Another "small-type
bomber" was shot down on Thursday, when 31 planes blasted island
positions, Domei said.
A Japanese Imperial Headquarters communique
acknowledged that "powerful enemy unit" had
landcd on Los Negros Island in
the Admiralties and said that Japanese forces on New Guinea were "now undergoing
regrouping."
