Strong forces of Flying
Fortresses and Liberators — between 500 and 750 of them—pounded the
Pas-de-Calais stretch of coast,
20 miles across the channel, with thunderous barrages which shook windows in
Briton and bombrd military installationsin the Cherbourg area 200 miles to the 'south
in the widespread invasion coast attacks.
