Current Events August 20, 1943;

THIS WAS REPORTED TODAY, AUGUST 20, 1943:
Pres. Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill — while aware of Russian demand! For a second front—were believed today to have decided to give air power its chance to crush. Germany first and, in any event, to blast such a path of destruction that land armies may invade Europe with the fewest possible casualties.

Signs multiplied today that Allied armies may land in Italy and France within the next month in fulfillment of. Prime Minister Churchill's prediction that there will be heavy fighting in the Mediterranean and elsewhere "before the leaves of autumn fall."
