THIS WAS REPORTED TODAY JANUARY 16, 1944:
Soviet mobile units in southern White Russia dashed westward Saturday toward the old Poliih border, 55 miles away, while red army forces in the Ukraine killed 2000 Germans counterattacking against the red array threat to Rumania, Moscow disclosed Sunday.

 R.A. F. blockbuster fleets,, aided. by Mosquito'fleets on Berlin' and Mage-burg, shatterefi industrial Brunswick, in ceritral Germany .Friday night with 700 long tons of bombs in 123 minutes, setting a record bomb concentration of 87 tons per minute. In American weights equals more than  a ton and 1/2 per second. -

LONDON, Sunday, Jan. 16—
Soviet mobile units in southern White Russia dashed westward Saturday toward the old Poliih border, 55 miles away, while red army forces in the Ukraine killed 2000 Germans counterattacking against the red array threat to Rumania, Moscow disclosed Sunday.
 Berlin reports, meanwhile, told, of a major Russian drive near Leningrad and in two other northern
sectors, reawakening that long inactive front. General Constantine Rokossovsky's forces, pushing west and
northwest from captured Kalinkovichi and Mozyr, fought their way forward through the Pripet marshes, "Inflicting enormous losses on the enemy without giving him a chance to reorganize his forces," said the Moscow midnight broadcast communique recorded by the soviet monitor.

The fighting was located as cart of Vinnitsa, and for the first time as "north of Uman" by the Russians, who said the Germans were using large forces of infantry and tanks. Uman is 85 miles southeast of Vinnitsa.
