NAPLES, May 19—(INS)—

The 5th army crashed today into the bristling heart of the Adolf Hitler line and folded back its crumbling lower flank in a tempestuous advance that was declared officially to have flung the Germans into a "definitely disorderly" retreat south of the Lirl valley.

Simultaneously, the 8th army rolled back the upper wing of the Hitler line's forward ramparts to strike to within artillery range of its three main northern bastions Piedimonte, Aquino and Ponlecorvo —in a continuing smash beyond captured Cassino toward Rome.

CHUNGKING, May 19.—(AP)

Chinese troops in their full-scale offensive toward Burma along the Salween river have reached the western slopes of the forbidding Kaoli range, a Chinese spokesman said today.

Lt. Gen. Joseph W. Stilwell's headquarters announced that American airmen poured explosives on Tengchung and Lungling, principal Japanese bases in Yunnan province, in support of the ground operations.
