35 OOO Combat Troops Among Those Missing
This figure included approximately
35,000 combat troops about
5,500 sick and wounded, a number of
supply and other non-combatant
troops and some 25,000 civilians, a
communique reported.
(A Japanese broadcast picked up
by the United Press in San Francisco
reported more than 50,000
prisoners taken in Bataan, including
9000 Americans.)
No reports of casualties in the
last few days of fighting in Bataan
have been received, the communique said.
