WASHINGTON, April 7.—
(INS)—The navy announced tonight
that a lone U. S. submarine,
again prowling close to
Japan, has sent two more Japanese
merchant ships to the bottom
of the China sea, raising to
14 the number of Nipponese vessels
revealed in the past four
days as sunk or damaged by
American armed forces

WASHINGTON, April 7.—
(INS)—Japanese hordes, swollen
by fresh reserves and bulwarked
with bombers, tanks and heavy
artillery, plunged deeper into
American positions on Bataan
today as the epic battle on the
narrow peninsula raged on with
unabated savagery.
