[MOSCOW, Dec. 10 (AP)—Ski
troops of the Red Army supported
in many cases by lumbering, white-
painted tanks, smashed at the German
communications at various sectors of
central front today, while in the
south before Stalingrad the Russians
continued their offensive in spite of
stff resistance.
Enemy troops in the region of
Veliki Luki flung in an infantry regimeat
and several dozens of tanks against the
Soviet forces, but the Russians turned the
might of their ski-troops, with artillery
and trench mortars, against the enemy,
first only pushing them back from the
sector near the main road but also driving
them from a nearby strong-point.
|As on the Veliki Luki front, the
Russian troops fighting west of Rzhev
aimed its blows at a junction which is
Probably part of the Germans' already
beleaguered system of communications.

Rain Bogs Fighting
By the Associated Press
Fighter planes needed by the First
Army for its final full-scale lunge in
Tunisia were reported coming up in
assembly-line style last night, but a
downpour of rain created a temporary
lull in the righting, which was
enlivened only by jabbing patrol
actions.
Morocco radio reported Allied
forces had resumed offensive operations
in the Tebourba-Mateur sector, but
there was no confirmation from Allied
headquarters of any action beyond a stab
at Tebourba which drove the Germans
back.
In the Middle East, Gen. Montgomery's
advance forces probed
Rommel's El Agheila defenses in an
approach to what Rome radio termed
the " zero hour " of the expected offensive.
The British said, however, that when
Montgomery lets go there will be no
secret about it.

RAF Batters City Again
In 25th Raid
Of War
Still smoking from Tuesday night's
blitz by RAF heavy and medium
bombers, the industrial centers of battered
Turin were blasted again Wednesday
night. It was the 25th raid on Turin
since Italy entered the war and the seventh
time since Oct. 23, when the RAF opened
its concentrated attack on Northern Italy.
The Italians officially admitted " very
great " damage. Smoke from Turin's
ruins helped the bombers identify their
targets when the raid started, and when
the last plane left, an hour later, huge
new fires were spreading in the industrial
area, according to an Air Ministry communique.
