AN ADVANCED ALLIED
BASE IN TUNISIA — (UP) —
Allied artillery, tanks, and Spitfire
fighter planes have repulsed
four Axis tank and infantry
assaults in the Medjez-
EI-Bab area 40 miles southwest
of Tunis, it was learned Saturday
night as both sides poured
men and material into the battle
zone for an impending finish fight
In their initial attacks the Germans
sent two heavy columns of
tanks-and infantry toward Medjez-
El-Bab, which lie on a slope
rising to a commanding height
