ALLIED Headquarters In North
Africa. Dec. 9. (UP)—American
armored formations and British
Infantry forces, following up their
victorious counterattack against
the axis in the neighborhood of Tebourba,
20 miles west of Tunis,
today consolidated the positions
they won in a fierce two-day tank
battle. An indication that both
sides had been worn down temporarily
by the heavy fighting—
which began when the Germans
attacked with tanks and infantry
last Sunday and penetrated one
allied position behind Tebourba
was seen in a report from the front
that today there was only patrol activity.

LONDON Dec. 9.—Royal Air Force
heavy bombers blasted Turin,
huge north Italy Industrial center,
last night for the third time in two
weeks.
They dropped their heaviest explosives
in clear weather, The air ministry
Said the results were “believed
good” and that\only one bomber was
missing.

Headquarters, Australia,
Dec. 9.—Allied heavy bombers
on the New Guinea front
blasted almost at its source
a seventh Japanese naval attempt
to reinforce the dwindling
enemy garrison at Buna, it was announced today.
Medium bombers at the same time
went back to Lae, main Japanese
fighter base on New Guinea, and
gave it another battering.
