WESTERN FRONT—
Americans open fire on German soil; Yanks take Luxembourg. American First and British Second Armies linked. British win Gent, reported striking into Holland.
AIR WAR
Bombers pound Le Havre, RAF raids Berlin. Allied planes smash other French battlefront targets.
EASTERN FRONT-
Soviet armies strike through Transylvanian Alps; Russians reported nearing Greece.
SOUTHERN FRONT—
Germans battle to guard Belfort Gap against
American advance; allies within 16 mlies of Bclfort fortress. French troops penetrate outskirts of Dijon.

BULLETINS
LONDON. Sept. 11 (AP).—
The south Poland fortress town of Krosno, 17 miles from Czechoslovakia, has been evacuated by the Germans, the Berlin radio announced late today.
Krosno lies in the Carpathian foothills 83 miles southeast of the great Polish city of Krakow, key to the war industries of German Silesia. Other troops
across the Vistula were reported within 35 miles of Krakow last month and 75 from Silesia.

The U. S. First Array fought its way into the first barrage zones and minefields of the dragon-toothed Siegfried Line today. British armor broke into Holland at a point 14 miles north of the ruptured Albert Canal defenses in a sweep toward the north end of the Germans' fortification belt.
The Americans were less than l.f> miles from the German frontier at two points 70 miles apart. They captured Luxembourg, the capital of the pocket Duchy bordering the Rhineland and Saarland, in one thrust and reportedly threw Sheila into Aachen, German border city, in the other forward movement
