Sometimes the Polls can be wrong;
November 1948 the predominant pollsters, Gallup and Roper, both reported an
impressive win for the presidential challenger, Thomas Dewey over incumbent
President, Harry S. Truman; the above Headline was published in the early
morning report, Nov. 3, 1948, in the Chicago Daily Tribune.
( ET's note: This obviously did not happen,
and the correct results were reported in a small town newspaper, along with Governor-elect
Langlie in Washington State.)
